Each year a variety of after-school activities are offered by our teachers or outside providers at NYIS.  To enroll, please contact the program provider directly.  Once you have enrolled, please also notify us of your child’s enrollment, so we can keep track of NYIS students while they are in the building.  In the winter of 2017, the following programs are available:

NY International Art Studio
NYIAS art classes are professionally and carefully planned, according to the stages of students' artistic development.  Taught by an award-winning artist and education scholar, each class is a place where students can enjoy the fun of doing art and are inspired by the masters' and their peers' creativity.  We also offer a bilingual (Chinese and English) learning environment.

Educational Light
Through an innovative approach uniquely our own, Educational Light School of Chess and Math offers a learning experience that sets the standard for excellence in chess and math instruction.  Our curriculum reflects children's interests and builds on their competencies so children grow up as thinkers, strategists and gracious competitors, having a great time all the while!

Offered at NYIS:  Chess Lightening Intermediate-Advanced classes offered on Tuesdays from 3:45-5:15pm.

Beginner-Intermediate classes coming soon on Wednesdays from 3:45-5:15pm!  In this class students will learn, expand and develop their skills.  While tactical training will be a main focus, we will also explore fundamental endgames, strategic themes and review great games in chess history.  Emphasis will be placed on critical thinking and problem solving.  Students will train to compete in several novice and beginner tournaments and of course play lots of chess!

Rella's Spielhaus
A varied and fun German daycare and language program, Rella's Spielhaus will be now be offering Kinderklassen at NYIS!  Learn to sing, dance and read in German, through music and stories customized for children up to 8 years old.

Serene Moon Music Studio
Jiaoyue Lyu is an internationally recognized pianist, zhu and guqin player - as well as a calligrapher and a talented educator.  Highlights of Jiao Jiao's 2015/6 season include a video recording for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and invitations from the London Confucius Institute in the U.K., universities in Italy, France, Poland and the Netherlands for lecture-recitals and engagement tours.  Stop by NYIS for one of her free open houses, or sign up for musical fun in Teeny Tiny Music, Creative Musical Theater, or private music lessons with with Jiao Jiao Lao Shi.

Super Soccer Stars
At Super Soccer Stars, it is our goal to teach soccer skills in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment.  Our philosophy is to use soccer to nurture, to build self-confidence, and to develop teamwork in every class.  Our specially designed curricula use positive reinforcement and a low child-to-teacher ratio to ensure that each child improves at his or her own rate while having endless fun.

Elora Theater Arts NYC
ETA NYC is an educational theater company dedicated to brining artistic excellent and empathy to a diverse community of NYC area students in the classroom, on stage and in film.  ETA workshops strengthen communication, cooperation, focus and leadership skills, while encouraging the students to work mindfully with their voices, bodies and brains.  And we have fun!
